Some nights, getting to the gym is the hardest part.
But once you get moving, the energy changes. Before long, you remember why you came in the first place.
That was the lesson behind Singer’s 10 PM workout: sometimes the hardest part of exercise is simply getting yourself through the door.
“Once you get into it, you’ll never want to stop.”
Consistency doesn’t always look glamorous. Sometimes it means showing up when you’re tired, when you’d rather stay home, or when the clock says 10 PM and the couch is looking particularly inviting.
But getting started can change everything. Once your body is moving and your mind gets into the rhythm, the resistance that made the workout seem impossible can start to disappear.
And there’s another important point in Singer’s message: age doesn’t determine when you slow down.
How we approach movement, fitness, and our daily habits can influence how we age. Staying active isn’t about proving something to someone else or chasing a particular number on a scale. It’s about continuing to give your body reasons to move, adapt, and stay engaged.
Sometimes that means a morning workout. Sometimes it’s an afternoon walk. And sometimes, apparently, it’s a 10 PM session at the gym.
The clock doesn’t get to decide whether you show up.
Sometimes slowing down determines how you age.
So if you’re sitting there thinking about whether you have the energy for today’s workout, remember: you don’t necessarily need to feel motivated before you begin.
Sometimes you just need to start moving.
